Role
Marketing Coordinator
Over the past three years, as the Marketing Coordinator for the Waukesha County Fair, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, I faced the ongoing challenge of effectively marketing the Fair to our target audience and developing compelling content to drive ticket sales, a crucial revenue stream. This involved creating impactful marketing campaigns within a non-profit budget, maintaining and growing our social media presence to foster community engagement, and coordinating diverse marketing efforts across multiple channels to ensure a cohesive and impactful strategy. My responsibilities and independence in this role expanded each year.
To address these challenges and achieve the Fair's marketing objectives, I collaborated closely with the Executive Director, Chrissy Gluege, our Media Buyer, Jane Fischer, our Assistant Designer, Sylvie Hergott, and my Mentor, Sarah Appleton, to develop annual Fair themes that anchored our marketing campaigns. These themes included "Seeing is Believing" (2023), "Homegrown Fun" (2024), and "Get Your Fair Face On" (2025). While Chrissy and I worked in the same location, the rest of our team (Jane, Sylvie, and Sarah) did not, which added the challenge of ensuring clear communication and collaboration across different work environments. These campaigns encompassed a wide range of digital marketing initiatives, including paid banner ads, social media advertising, e-blasts, collaborations with local travel blogs, and video editing. Additionally, I executed traditional marketing strategies, designing and distributing materials like posters, yard signs, coupons, and brochures, writing radio ad scripts, and creating print ads. My role also included managing organic social media across platforms with over 15,000 followers, creating sponsor videos, assisting with experiential marketing events, coordinating media relations through media kits and news releases, and managing the volunteer "photographer for a day" program. I managed a busy schedule, communicated with the Executive Director, developed engaging social media campaigns, designed marketing materials, and collaborated with my mentor to analyze campaign results.
As a result of these actions, I successfully contributed to the Fair's marketing efforts for three years. I developed and executed comprehensive campaigns integrating digital, traditional, social media, experiential, and media relations strategies. I created engaging content that effectively promoted the Fair and drove ticket sales. I also managed and grew the Fair's social media presence, fostering community engagement. Through this experience, I demonstrated strong skills in project management, time management, communication, collaboration, and creative content development, and gained extensive experience in all facets of marketing within a non-profit context.
